After covering general results and batting figures in the first part, we move on to bowling figures:

Most wickets (25 and above):

Qadir has by far the most wickets and Anderson is unlikely to overtake him. Broad and M. Amir are next among current players

Best innings bowling (including all 7wi and above):

Qadir again at the top. No good performances in the last few years. In fact the 2018 series did not see anyone take a five-for.

Best match bowling (including all 10wm and above):

Underwood and Qadir lead. Nothing from the current series, though Woakes and Yasir Shah are there from 2016.

Bowling averages (Minimum 2000 balls, all instances):

Anderson has by far the best bowling average, followed by his partner Broad. Qadir is somewhat further down. M. Amir is also there from the current series.

The best economy rates are by Iqbal Qasim (1.82) and DA Allen (1.90). The best strike rates are by by Waqar Younis (48.5) and almost the same by Anderson (48.6).

Wasim Bari has by far the most dismissals, followed unexpectedly by Kamran Akmal. Bari and Sarfraz Ahmed have the most stumpings. Cook, Miandad and Younis Khan share the record for non-keepers.

Sarfraz Ahmed has done this in 2015, 2016 and 2018.

Wasim Bari and Kamran Akmal (!) have the record of 8 dismissals. Bairstow had 7 in 2016. Greig and Hick have the most catches (6) by non-keepers.

Knott and Taylor lead, while Asad Shafiq and Cook have the most among current players. Trescothick and Atherton have the best rates for non-keepers. Sarfraz Ahmed has not played enough.

Botham and Broad lead, followed by Intikhab Alam at a distance. Imran Khan does not seem to have played enough.

All-round match performances (50 and 5wi):

Imran and Botham appear here twice apiece, along with some unexpected appearances by Abdul Qadir and others. Qadir has one of the rare doubles of a fifty and ten-for in a match, while Botham had a century and 8-34.

Tests between Australia and Pakistan-2

We continue our study of study of the 2016-17 series.

First we take up Fielding: (15 or more dismissals)

Rod Marsh and Wasim Bari are predictably at the top. ME Waugh (23) and Border and Greg Chappell (22 apiece) have the most catches as non-keepers. Wasim Bari has the most stumpings (10).

Several keepers have 5 dismissals in an innings. The most by non-keepers is 4 by Hanif, Alan Turner, Border and Boon.

Best match fielding (6 or more dismissals):

While Haddin alone has taken 9 dismissals followed by Grout and Latif with 8, no non-keeper has taken 6 catches.

Rod Marsh just edges out Wasim Bari from the top spot. Among the non-keeper, Mark Taylor and Boon have the highest dismissal rates.

Imran Khan is the only one with a good performance while Wasim Akram is far behind.

Only these two qualify (not even Imran). Note that Akram scored a century and took a fiver.

Review of England-Pakistan Test series, 2016

The series was drawn 2-2. The overall record in 81 Tests between these teams is 24 won by England, 20 by Pakistan and 37 drawn. Tests have also been played at neutral venues (all in the UAE). Results vary considerably among venues, as you can see here:

Starting with batting, here are all those who scored 750 or more runs in Tests between these teams:

Cook and Inzaman head this list, followed by other current players Younis Khan, Misbah, Root and Asad Shafiq.

Highest innings scores (175 and above):

Root and Younis scored 200+ in this series.

We also see that the most centuries scored were 6 by M. Yousuf, followed by 5 each by Cook and Inzamam. The most scores of 50+ were 15 by Inzamam, followed by 14 (Mushtaq Mohammad), 13 (Salim Malik) and 12 (Cook).

The highest averages (30 and above, minimum 20 innings batted):

Among current players, Cook has the highest average (just above 50). Younis Khan is close behind with 46.

Abdul Qadir is far ahead of everyone else, including the present leaders Anderson and Broad.

Qadir also has the most fivers (8) followed by Imran and Underwood with 4. Qadir also took 4 tenners, while no one else has achieved this more than once.

Nothing outstanding in recent years, other than Ajmal’s 7-55 in 2012.

Woakes and Yasir Shah took tenners in this series, while Ajmal had done so in 2012.

This includes all 16 bowlers with the qualifying number of balls bowled. It can be seen that Anderson has the best bowling average, Iqbal Qasim the best economy and Waqar Younis the best strike rate.
