Mike Hendrick, who had played 30 Tests for England in 1974-81, passed away on July 27 at the age of 72.
He first played in the Lord’s Test against India in 1974. He took Solkar’s wicket with his third ball, and India lost with Gavaskar top-scoring in each innings with 101 and 58.
By the time his Test career ended, he had 87 wickets but without a single five-for. This remains a record.
