Y Jaiswal’s 171 on debut was the highest on debut in all Tests while batting at No 1.

Y Jaiswal made the highest score (171) at No 1 by a debutant, surpassing the 166 by K Ibadulla of Pakistan.

The previous record for India was 134 by PP Shaw, which was also against the West Indies.

Jaiswal’s 171 is the highest by an Indian debutant outside India, surpassing the 131 by SC Ganguly.

Jaiswal also made the highest score at Roseau, surpassing the 130* by AC Voges of Australia.

R Ashwin’s 7-71 was the best innings bowling at Roseau, surpassing the 6-80 by D Bishoo.

R Ashwin’s 12-131 was the best match bowling at Roseau, surpassing the 10-93 by S Shillingford.

His 7-71 is the best for India in the West Indies, surpassing his own 7-83

His 12-131 is also the best for India in the West Indies, surpassing I Sharma’s 10-108.

India’s winning margin of an innings and 141 runs is their best in WI, surpassing their earlier record of an innings and 92 runs.
